Chi di voi ha da poco acquistato Windows 7 e una scheda grafica AMD Radeon HD 58xx probabilmente si sarà imbattuto in una faccenda piuttosto curiosa: il cursore del mouse, all’improvviso e in modo completamente casuale, assume dimensioni spropositate rispetto al resto dell’interfaccia di Windows, e l’unico modo per risolvere il problema – ammesso che vi dia fastidio – è quello di riavviare il PC o di riavviare il driver video della vostra GPU. AMD per ora, pur avendo riconosciuto il problema, non è stata in grado di risolverlo, promettendo però di correggere l’errore in concomitanza con l’arrivo dei driver 9.11 .

Un’altra alternativa segnalata da TechReport, in attesa della patch, è quella di tenere in esecuzione nella taskbar “Windows Magnifier”: è sufficiente che esso sia attivo in background senza necessariamente avere attivato l’ingrandimento.

As far as we’re aware, the only way to reset the cursor size is to either reboot or make the driver crash. The cursor size also stays normal if you run the Windows Magnifier in the background (without magnification actually enabled) or if you enable pointer trails. One forum user claims grabbing the latest AMD GPU Clock Tool and manually forcing the default clock speeds will do the trick, but that approach didn’t work for us.

We asked AMD whether it was aware of the issue, and the firm provided the response below:

Yes this is a known issue, and seems to happen pretty infrequently, but that being said it is going to be fixed in Catalyst 9.11 next month.
